Composite (White) Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings are the most lifelike material used to fill cavities. Composite dental fillings can be done in one visit. Once the tooth decay is removed, the tooth is filled with this composite material that hardens immediately after placement. This treatment helps prevent tooth decay from spreading further in your child's teeth.

Bonding

Bonding is the process of applying a tooth-colored composite material to the tooth in order to preserve the tooth structure while allowing the tooth to maintain a natural appearance. In order to bond a tooth, tooth colored material is added to the tooth to build it up. Bonding is often used to correct the shape of a chipped tooth, correct the appearance of a cracked tooth, and/or provide more even tooth color, supporting your child's oral health.

Pulp Treatment (Pulpotomy/Pulpectomy/Baby Root Canal)

Root canals involve treating tooth decay that is inside of the tooth. If the inside of the tooth, known as the dental pulp, is damaged it will gradually decay if left within the tooth. The pulpotomy involves removing the pulp, cleaning out the root canals, and packing the canals with material that will help restore the tooth until it is time for it to exfoliate (or fall out on its own naturally). This dental treatment helps maintain your child's dental health and is particularly important for preserving baby teeth until permanent teeth are ready to emerge.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are used to restore damaged or decayed teeth in children. Crowns completely cover the remaining tooth structure after it has been treated. They can be made of many different materials, including stainless steel, composite materials, polycarbonate, resin, porcelain, and zirconia. Our pediatric dentists offer several different options, allowing us to choose what is best for each child, their dental health, and each tooth as part of our comprehensive dental care. Pediatric dental crowns help address significant dental issues in child's teeth.

Extractions

A tooth that can not be saved with restorative materials may need to be removed. Before removing the tooth, the area will be numbed with local anesthesia. The tooth is then loosened using a special dental instrument known as an elevator. After the tooth is loosened from the socket, it is removed. Maintaining good oral hygiene habits and early dental visits can help prevent the need for extractions and support your child's oral health. Regular pediatric dental check-ups are essential for detecting problems early.
